Students in the music education program experience a comprehensive and sequential curriculum taught by certified music specialists. Course offerings are established based on the standards contained in the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Frameworks. Standards for Music include singing, reading and notation, playing instruments, improvisation and composition, critical response, and music technology. Courses and extracurricular offerings within the department support the core values identified in the Silver Lake Mission Statement, as well as providing opportunity for students to demonstrate many aspects of the Student Expectations.
